What Nobody Prepared Me for When I Started My Entrepreneurial Journey

When I started this crazy ride called entrepreneurship, I thought I had prepared for it all: the excitement, the late nights, the “I’m going to change the world” dreams.

What I didn’t prepare for were the hard but fulfilling pieces in the middle. Let me share a few with you:

  1. Your Brain Becomes a 24/7 Ideas Factory

Nobody tells you that once you start, your brain goes into overdrive. Ideas don’t show up 9 to 5; they barge in at 3 a.m., demanding attention. And if you’re anything like me (hello, ADHD brain), your biggest challenge isn’t coming up with ideas; it’s taming them and deciding which ones are worth chasing.

  1. You’ll Feel Like an Impostor (More Than Once)

Impostor syndrome? I thought that was something you conquered. Nope. Every time you level up, it whispers, “Are you sure you’re qualified for this?” Spoiler alert: you are.

  1. Your Relationship With Failure Changes

Failure used to feel like a full stop. Now it feels more like a comma. You learn to view it as feedback, as part of the process. Still, nobody tells you how exhausting it can be to dust yourself off “again” and keep going.

  1. Loneliness Will Knock on Your Door

It’s not all mastermind groups and coffee shop coworking vibes. Some days, you’ll feel like you’re on an island with nothing but your to-do list for company. That’s why community—real, raw, unfiltered connection with other entrepreneurs—isn’t optional. It’s essential.

  1. Your Business Will Test You (and Grow You)

You think you’re building a business, but spoiler: it’s also building YOU. It will test your patience, your confidence, your boundaries, and your capacity to pivot. And while the growth is incredible, it’s also deeply uncomfortable at times.

So, if you’re on this journey or thinking about it, know this: it’s messy and magical, all at once.
